As information we quoted from Kompas.com, recently, there are a number of literacy activists who are members of various communities in Pontianak City, West Kalimantan, holding the “Ngabuburit Literasi” activity to fill their spare time during the month of Ramadan.

This time, they held the activity while walking along the Kapuas River using a tourist boat, Thursday (23/5/). Of course, while reading the short story in the book entitled: “So it was in the beginning”.

A collection of short stories entitled: “So it was in the beginning” this is a book of literary works written by Yusakh Ananda. Senior writer in West Kalimantan.

Although it was only published in 1980, however, the writing of the work began in the 1940s.

One of the literacy activists, Hera said, with this activity it is hoped that people will be moved and want to read books, not only on boats, but anywhere.

“It would be nice if the awareness of reading can be done anywhere grows in the minds of our people,” said Hera.

According to him, the purpose of this activity feels more special and distinctive. Because it combines the characteristics of the City of Pontianak, with the beauty, phenomena and history of the areas on the banks of the river, as well as introducing and appreciating the literary works of the West Kalimantan region.

They started along the Kapuas River using a tourist boat that rested at the Kapuas Square Park, which was formerly known as Larrive Park (Larrive Park), then proceeded to Waterfront City. The activity was packaged at the same time with breaking the fast together.

“I am happy, this is my first time participating in a different literacy activity, reading on a tourist boat as well as walking along the Kapuas River,” continued Hari, one of the participants.

He hopes that activities like this will continue to be encouraged because they can be a form of effort in campaigning for a reading culture among the people of Pontianak City.

“Hopefully this kind of activity can be done regularly every month. In a simple but real and sustainable form,” he said.

Another literacy activist, Ahmad Sofian, said that the most important thing in this activity is that all activists are involved in funding contributions.

Starting from buying snacks for breaking the fast, to paying the cost of boarding a tourist boat and others. He hopes that many parties will be involved and it will be adjusted to the momentum of Eid.

“Hopefully we can hold a literary and cultural friendship. That is, young writers, writers or literacy activists will visit, ‘eid’ to older writers,” said Ahmad Sofian.

What do you think, guys? Besides being known as a city that has many pro Mobile Legends players, Pontianak also has its own charm to visit, right?
