At the beginning of the NBA’s free agent period, there were many big contracts for many players to find new teams around the league. However, there are three offers for free agents that the team regrets.
Some teams have found the players they need, while others have made big offers that could be expensive in the future.

The three NBA free agent contracts that the team will regret in the future are:
Gordon Hayward
The 20-year-old found a high offer after Hornets owner Michael Jordan offered the former Celtics $ 120 million to join him in Charlotte.
While this is one of the three worst free agency contracts to date, Hayward also has some advantages.
He was successful at Utah Jazz before signing with the Celtics in 2017. A four-year, $ 127.8 million deal was enough to invite Hayward to the Celtics.
However, Hayward was seriously injured in only one match at the end of the season on a contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Hayward has never been the same since the injury.

The downside of Hayward

Knicks signed Morris at the end of last season with a one-year contract worth $ 15 million. In 43 games against Knicks, he averaged 19.6 points per game.
Shooting 3 points to 43.9%, both are the best in their careers. Shortly before the trade deadline, Morris was included in the three-team contract and traded to the Clippers.
Why Morris production declined
In 19 games against the Clippers, Morris’ points per game dropped to 10.1, and his 3-point percentage was 31% below average.
In Knicks, Morris usage is 24.4, compared to only 15.8 in the Clippers. Morris was more free to attack in New York, increasing in number.

With the latest deal, Grizzlies gave De’Anthony Melton a four-year deal worth $ 35 million, about 8.75 million a year, which isn’t as strong as the first two deals.

Melton’s defensive strength makes him valuable to the team, but given the value of comparable players, short-term trading may be a wise move.
